A Couple of Questions for ... George Foreman

George Foreman stars in the reality series Family Foreman, which premieres July 16 on TV Land:

Q: When you were boxing, you were the scariest man on the planet. How did you become the guy we see now?

A: I had this role model, Sonny Liston, the heavyweight champion. He was mean. I'd watch him every day, and I became worse. When you saw me in the ring, that was the best of me. I was worse outside the ring. Then, after I left boxing, I became a minister, which is all about treating people nice and getting them to come to church. Your personality is just converted right now.

Q: Muhammad Ali is ill, Joe Frazier is sick, but you seem great. Good genes, or did you not take the punishment they did?

A: I think it's generally because when I got in the ring, most guys ran from me. It wasn't like they were going to beat me up. They'd hit me once and say, "Yep, leave him alone." But it's just a matter of the way things work out. As the old saying goes, there but for the grace of God …
